Arthur Weststeijn (Amsterdam, 1980) is assistant professor in political history at the University of Utrecht (The Netherlands).

He holds degrees in history and philosophy from the University of Amsterdam and a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence. His academic work focuses on early-modern intellectual history, specifically on the intersections between republicanism and imperialism in Dutch, Italian, and Spanish contexts.

He also publishes popular history books (in Dutch) for a wider public, as well as Dutch translations of Italian philosophy, including a selection of Antonio Gramsci’s Prison Notebooks .
